What You Should Know About Warts
No one really wants warts, but do you really know how they are caused? Unlike what you may have heard as a child, warts are not caused by toads!
Warts are caused by a virus (called the human papillomavirus) which affects the cells in your epidermis. The virus causes your cells to reproduce faster than they should, resulting in a wart. The mosaic appearance of the wart is actually several cones of some skin which have grown up in a cylindrical shape and are fused together. The dark dots inside a wart are blood vessels.
All warts are caused by this virus, but they are actually a few different types you might get. The warts on the bottom of your feet are called plantar warts and can be quite painful. Plantar warts are often transmitted through sweat pouring in pools and public showers. Warts on the face are often flatter in appearance and are called flat warts.
So, how do you get rid of warts? Everything from salicylic acid to freezing to duct tape could work. Try one method if that doesn’t work choose something else - eventually you’ll find something that does get rid of your warts.
