What is dense media separation?

Author + June 16th, 2008 + no replies

Dense Media Separation is the process by which minerals can be separated by using the gravity of each mineral. Gravity is the relative measurement between the mass of the mineral and water. Some minerals are lighter and can float, while many others are heavier and will sink. Dense Media Separation will take advantage of these differences in gravity between minerals to separate the one from the other.

DMS Powders are located in Meyerton South Africa and are manufacturers of 14-15% atomised and milled ferrosilicon used in the DMS process.
