Questions About the War in Iraq
Let me introduce myself. I am what they call, in political terms, a “conservative”. I want government out of my life, and believe in personal responsibility. Don’t tell me what I can and can’t do. Stay out of my gun cabinet. Leave my checkbook alone. And I’ll take care of myself.
I’m a republican then, right? Not so fast. As a republican, I am required for some reason to blindly and stupidly tow the party line that the war in Iraq is good and just, moral and necessary. If I disagree, I am not entitled to bestow upon myself the honorific “republican”. And I’m certainly not a good American. Heck, I might even be - a terrorist. Boo.
I can’t ask questions, either. For questions have answers, and we can’t let the facts get in the way of a profitable war. But I have my elephant gun locked and loaded. With plenty of ammo….
